Getting Started

Learn about SignBridge SA and how to begin.

What is SignBridge SA?

SignBridge SA connects people who are deaf, hard of hearing or speak different languages with qualified interpreters through a secure video platform. Our service helps organisations deliver inclusive, compliant and accessible communication at every service counter and beyond.

How do I get started?

Book a tailored demo. We will learn about your service points and channels, show you the customer tablet, consultant portal and interpreter experience, and agree a rollout plan. Most organisations start with a pilot at a few locations before scaling.

What types of organisations can use SignBridge SA?

Any organisation that serves the public: banks, insurers, government departments and municipalities, revenue and tax services, hospitals and clinics, schools and universities, retailers, telcos and contact centres.

How is SignBridge SA priced?

Pricing depends on the number of locations, expected usage and whether you need on-demand, scheduled or dedicated interpreting. We offer monthly plans and usage-based options – request a demo for a quote tailored to you.

Languages

Information about the languages we support.

Which sign languages are available?

Our core service is South African Sign Language (SASL), one of South Africa’s official languages. Other sign languages can be arranged on a scheduled basis.

Do you offer spoken language interpretation as well?

Yes. Alongside SASL we support English and other South African languages such as isiZulu, isiXhosa, Afrikaans, Sesotho and Setswana, plus a range of international languages by arrangement.

Can we request a specific interpreter or gender?

For scheduled sessions you can request a preferred interpreter or interpreter gender where available – useful for sensitive healthcare or legal conversations.

Interpreters

Learn about our qualified interpreter network.

How are interpreters qualified?

Every interpreter is vetted for language proficiency, interpreting qualifications and experience, and signs a confidentiality agreement. We assess interpreters on an ongoing basis and match specialists for settings such as healthcare and financial services.

Are interpreters available 24/7?

On-demand interpreting is available throughout extended business hours, with after-hours and 24/7 cover available on enterprise plans. Your service agreement sets out the exact hours for your organisation.

How quickly can we get a qualified interpreter?

For on-demand sessions an interpreter typically joins within seconds to a few minutes. Scheduled sessions are confirmed in advance with a named interpreter.

Can we book interpreters in advance?

Yes. Use the consultant portal to schedule interpreters for appointments, meetings, training sessions or events.

Security

Your privacy and data security are our priority.

Is my conversation private and secure?

Yes. Sessions are encrypted end to end, interpreters are bound by confidentiality, and access to the platform is controlled by role. We only process the session data needed to deliver the service.

Do you comply with POPIA and other regulations?

SignBridge SA is designed around the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). We act as an operator for our clients, follow data-minimisation principles, host data in South African data centres and support your compliance reporting.

Are sessions recorded?

Not by default. Recording is only enabled where a client has a lawful reason, has informed participants and has switched it on for specific workflows.

Implementation

Technical requirements and integration.

What equipment do I need to use SignBridge SA?

A tablet, laptop or desktop with a camera, microphone, speakers and a stable internet connection. The platform runs in a modern web browser and on our mobile apps – no special hardware is required.

Can SignBridge SA be integrated with our existing systems?

Yes. We offer APIs and integration options for contact-centre platforms, booking systems, single sign-on and reporting tools. Our team will help you plan the right integration.

How long does implementation take?

A pilot can usually go live within a few weeks. Larger rollouts are planned in phases with training for your staff at each stage.

Do you train our staff?

Yes. Every rollout includes consultant training, Deaf-awareness guidance and quick-start materials so your teams feel confident from day one.
